This article is not about politics, nor designed to offend anyone. In truth, this article isn't even an article. Instead, it's a series of questions that have plagued me for quite sometime. Some are quite serious while others are not. It's merely an eclectic collection of thoughts, over which I've pondered for a long while. That said, here they are.
Why do we have items known as hot water heaters? If the water is hot, why would we need to heat it?
Why haven't we been back to the moon? It was a glorious trip, we learned so much and it is man's nature to reach beyond our surroundings.
I've been disgruntled before. How come I've never been gruntled?
Why does anyone like David Spade? He has the same tired, "I really don't care about all of this" look on his face in everything he does.
If 7-11 stores are open 24 hours a day, why do they have locks on their doors?
Why do they swab the arm of the condemned man with alcohol just before administering the lethal injection? Are they afraid he might develop an infection?
What does anyone see in Rap Music? Even the term rap music is misleading, as it's not music. Those who do it are called artists, but they're not artists. Can't sing, can't dance, can't play an instrument....guess I must be a rap artist. I don't get it, but that's OK because I don't want it. Mediocrity personified!!
Certain types of snails are considered to be wonderful eating by some, but what kind of idiot was it that ate the first one? "I'm hungry. Look at that crawling, disgusting thing. I think I'll eat it."
What makes big time sports so popular? It's played by over-paid hired gun athletes, many with bad attitudes and few social skills who would leave town in a heartbeat for more money. By percentage, far more pro athletes are in court (the legal variety) than the average population, yet we seem to hang onto every monosyllabic phrase that come out of their mouth. Why is that?
What ever happened to that infomercial about a system that let you cut your hair with your vacuum cleaner? It was dumb, but very entertaining.
What ever happened to Adam West? A pretty good actor who finally got his big role and then paid for it the rest of his life.
Do we also have a constitutional right to arm bears?
Why are people so rude to each other? When was civility replaced by, the "in your face." Attitude?
Where did the phrase, "baker's dozen" come from? Certainly not from bakers as they lose money every time one is sold
I don't see many ant farms anymore. Does that mean we're going to run out of ants?
Will M*A*S*H re-runs always be on TV? I hope so. What a great show.
Whatever became of Slim Whitman (and does anyone care)?
There are many unabashed fans of almost everything, but how come we've never heard of bashed fans (except maybe at a rock concert)?
How do we know a tree falling in the woods, with no one around, doesn't make any sound? Who didn't hear it fall to tell us about it.
Why do rooms at Motel 6 cost $39.95? Of course, I suppose calling it Motel 39.95 would sound really stupid. And does Tom Bodet really stay there?
Why don't people just hang up on telemarketers? I do, without a word, and it's a very effective way to end an annoying conversation.
Why do people in a left turn only lane have their turn signals on? Where else are they going to go?
When a state holds a Gubernatorial race, why is the winner called the new Governor? Shouldn't they really be called the new Guber?
